Thinking about trying some new lakes this year especially in west texas. I know ivie, leon and hubbard creek are good. I know twin buttes, ev Spence and oc fisher are still recovering from low water. Are lake Coleman, palo pinto, hords creek, cisco, brady creek any good? Just wondering which are good lakes and which ones arent. You can private measage if you would like thank you

Twin buttes, Brady, oc fisher, and Spence caught a lot of water and they are fishing a little tough right now. You can catch a few at them. Oak creek is fishing decent. Havent been on Coleman, hordes creek or palo pinto this year.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I CAN show you some fish on Lake Alan Henry. I even guide on the lake if anyone wants to go, but it confounds some people. I have been fishing it since it was 20' deep and even have videos of it at 25', 35', 42' and 55' depths. Of course, fishing it since 1997 gives me a local advantage that most do not have. Most of them get frustrated and say there are no fish in the lake, but I know better. Such is life. If you want to know more about AH, let me know and I can show you what I am talking about. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I'll throw in a vote for OH Ivie. Grew up fishing that lake and it is looking the best it has in YEARS!

It's only a good cast if you catch a fish...

If I were you, I would stay out of West Texas. Too much new water, and too few fish from all the years of drought. Post pone your expedition for a few years, and it should be better.

Ivie is fishing very tough right now, give it about 2 years. We had a great spawn this year anf TPWD just put 200,00 more fingerlings in. With all the cover the fish have they will be able to survive and grow so Ivie has a bright future ahead of it.

Ivie is liable to be a mudhole again in 2 years with oil booming and Midland/Odessa growing steadily. Hope not, but time will tell.

Won't be a mudhole in just 2 years and even when it was 30' low people were catching 25# stringers.

Ivie has risen almost every day but 2 since it started raining in the Fall. It will go down again but it will be healthy for a good while until then. It jumped 2% over the weekend from last Friday's rains, was still quickly rising from those and the whole area caught another flash flood this morning. We could be looking at less than 5' from full pool in the next couple weeks. Fishing will be tough for awhile.

Got about 5" of rain yesterday here in Angelo and several more predicted to fall in the next 3 days. Ivie and Buttes should collect a bunch more.
