Hi Justin
Very interesting video ! Thanks for posting it.
Just one comment. Please use barbless hooks or crimp down the barb on your hooks with pliers. This will make getting the turtle off the hook very easy and will much reduce any harm to the turtle. If you keep tension on your line you won't loose any turtles.
cheers, Chris

I admit, I don't see the purpose. It seems pointlessly mean.
I know, I know, hook fish, but not turtles?

I agree with removing the barb on the hook. I do this when I fish for bass most of the time. Any time I am out fun fishing I will flatten the barb with my plyers so I can release them with little to no harm. Even when I'm fishing for white bass or crappie with a jig I smash the barb. I might lose one fish out of a hundred fish caught. And it normally takes place when I have the fish out of water that it slings the hook. As long as you keep tension on a rod the fish will not come lose. Or turtle in this case.

...------ Agreed, not sure I see the purpose. If I want a pull on my line I will fish for perch. To each their own I guess.

something many do not know.... catching turtles requires a hunting license not a fishing license. Seems strange but turtles are classified as non game animal and fall under hunting regulations not fishing regulations. The same goes for frogs. https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/outdoor-annual/hunting/nongame-and-other-speciesJust passing on information - do not want to see someone getting into trouble.
