Hit the water first thing this morning to check out a few brush piles. Bounce jigs on a half dozen piles in 20 to 25 foot of water, produced about one fish per pile. No dinks, but no quantity either. Water clarity was much better than expected. I think a lot of fish are up shallow with all the flooded vegetation. Need lake to come down to normal pool so brush piles will be in 15 to 20 foot range. Also believe that lowering of lake will put numbers into brush piles. Tight lines to all.

I was on Lewisville all morning, talked to plenty of other fisherman, it was a slow morning. We hammered some whites and a a few hybrids Thursday. Same spot today nothing. Ran most of the lakes, other than the dam, didn't find a single good concentration of bait or fish. Everyone we talked to said the same. I think with as much water let out in the last 48 hours the fish are a little confused. I think next week will be good again tho.

We had a totally different trip today. Kept 36 out of about 50 caught. Most on brush piles and underwater trees in 20'-25' water. Had a ball with the livescope. Most on blue tinted jigs.

Ernest, Glad to hear you had a good day. Piles I hit showed a lot of bait around them but few if any fish. Normally bait means a lot of fish on the brush. 6 piles in 2 hours yeilded only 7 or 8 fish. Using a Helix 9 is not a live scope, but gives a pretty good idea of what's down there. Used black& chart.slim stick and I think silver shad stump bugs. Didnt think to try blue combos.

They definitely aren't in the flooded vegetation as that would be in 5 ft or less for the most part and is too shallow for this time of year. The key for me when fishing flooding lakes is finding cover that comes way up off of the bottom. The allows the fish to suspend in their comfort zone even with the lake being high. Piles that don't come up much won't hold as many fish.
