Started late on Friday morning after some errands and fished Granger with no success(1 white bass) from 10a-12p. Frustrated with the lack of action and unable to mark fish on piles or catch any shallow on flooded timber I decided to go out for some night fishing on Lake Travis.

Launched from Gloster Bend at 9:00 pm with my 8 year old and another friend of mine and his 12 year old son. We were on fish from the first drop fishing docks in 17-30 foot of water. The perch are in full swing right now as well and had to get through the suspended perch to reach the crappie down below. Used plastics tipped with crappie nibbles and loaded up some minnows and caught better sized fish on jigs tipped with minnows. Ended up being an early night and left the fish biting at 11:30 pm.

It was good to introduce my buddies son to crappie fishing and I think he is hooked! Kept a few fish for a memorial day dinner

As a fellow Lake Travis fisherman, I call that is a great catch. Thanks for the report. I'm determined to try night fishing as soon as I can figure out how to stay awake past 10 pm.

I will let you know about day fishing once I get on them again! Tempted to give Buchanan a shot as I have never caught a crappie there before.

Once this winds settles a bit, night fishing weather is upon us...not to mention much cooler temps, and a lower chance for sunburn or heatstroke...
