I recently moved to Victoria and bought my first bay boat and looking for advice on where to get started? I did purchase and watch the Trout Support.com videos. Very good information. I am close enough to fish POC, SA bay, or Aransas Bay areas. The bays are huge!! I am trying to narrow it down to a few specific areas. I can't get any shallower than about 2 feet. 22' Blue Wave. I know it takes years of experience to learn the waters and feeding patterns but if I could get a few places to start that are known to hold fish that would narrow down the almost endless options on these huge bays.

Always had a lot of luck around the jetties at POC. Kingfish, Big Reds and occasionally would find Amber Jacks schooling.

Give me a shout if you want to go. I'm a little hardcore, mostly fish a lot of stuff your big boat can't go, but you'll see what holds trout, reds and flounder.

We don't fish bait, and mostly wade, but if you're in, I'll show you how to get around.

Hi there,
My name is Nathan Beabout, I have guided out of POC/Seadrift since 2007. I offer navigational trips during the week. On our navigation trips we focus on boat safety and etiquette, we show you how to run to fishing areas safely, mark the GPS with any hazards or reefs/sandbars, and discuss fishing tips and techniques at a given area. These trips are run in your boat, with you driving and me directing this way it is more likely to stick in your head.

Our navigational trips are $100 per hour, 4 hour minimum. Give me a shout if this is something you may be interested in. you gotta remember we all started somewhere.

OP anyone who offers to take you fishing and show you around I would recommend jumping at the chance. That's the best way to learn the waters.

You get out of it what you put into it!

Invite a friend who has a boat and has experience in the bays to show you how to navigate. Fish a few basic areas with him. Do this once and you can start exploring on your own. Nice boat. Sign up for the blue wave tournament July 19 in PortA. Youll be glad you did. Ive fished it every year since owning a Bluewave.

OP, I think you're making this more complicated than it is.

Pick one area and fish it until you know it.

So far my trips to the coast have been POC and Corpus Christi, but a buddy of mine that fished POC told me he's had better success in Seadrift.

You need to jump on Pat Goff's offer to show you the area.

Getting into/out of the maze is the trick if you don't have something that'll run micro thin. Once you teach how to read the water and what's good and especially what's bad, makes the trip much easier.
