Is it dangerous to use an electric fillet knife to clean fish? I dont think so because the electric kitchen knife is a double insulated tool.

Very dangerous. Every crappie you fillet with an electric knife dies.

Dad and I had used the American Angler Pro Electric Knife for over 5 years and we have nothing but good memories with that knife. Then Jerry Hancock turned me onto the Rapala Lithium Ion Electric Knife. I'm going to include a Link to a Combo for it on Amazon. It's $116 and comes with a very nice padded carrying case, 2 Batteries, a charger, and a couple sets of knife blades. One Battery is good for 80 minutes "CONTINUOUS RUN TIME". I have yet even when cleaning a 3 Man Limit to change out the battery. It's nice to know I have it should I need it though. https://smile.amazon.com/Rapala-Lit...p;sprefix=rappala+lithium+ion&sr=8-2One reason Dad and I were never really looking to switch knifes is why fix it if it's not broken. We also really liked the Saltwater Knife Blades for the American Angler Pro. That was all we used. These Blades: https://smile.amazon.com/American-A...;qid=1558998366&s=gateway&sr=8-2Well we decided to give the Rapala Lithium Ion a test drive. And to our surprise the American Angler Saltwater Blades we love so much actually fit the Rapala Lithium Ion. That really surprised us. We took the Rapala for a test drive and we can report that once you try a Rapala Lithium Ion with the American Angler Saltwater Blades you will never want to use anything else to clean fish. Your American Angler Pro will become your back up plan and probably collect dust. In our opinion the Rapala Lithium Ion cordless knife exceeded our expectations and we feel it is a much smoother cut than the American Angler Pro. I strongly recommend giving it a go to anyone using the American Angler Pro or any other brand. I also recommend using the Saltwater Blades by American Angler with the Rapala Lithium Ion. You won't be disappointed. You will actually enjoy cleaning fish. No cords. Smooth Action. Tight Lines To All.

Plug it into a GFCI if it makes you nervous. Ive been tingled with a mister twister... theyre junk. Ive been using black and decker for years and theyre prolly the best knives Ive ever used. Youll be fine.

I did some research. This is what I found. 110 volt electric knives are Double Insulated Tools (DITs). DITs are designed to be used in wet environments and are safe to use in wet conditions; however, it is recommended that if you drop a DIT into water not to reach in an get it. I took an electric knife turned it on with the lock on and dropped it in a sink of water. It was not affected being underwater and continued to run with out any damage to the knife. The electric motor winding, brushes and leads never came in contact with the water. It shot a little geyser of water up from the spinning shaft fan blades that cool the motor housing. I let it run for several minutes before unplugging it. I googled it and searched OSHA web site and found 0 reports of anyone being electrocuted or injured by electricity while using an electric knife or any type of double insulated tool. I also learned that a GFCI protector will not work with a DIT because they have no ground wire. They don't need a ground wire because they are double insulated therefore can not cause electric shock.

I found the best way to get crappie fillets is to catch 25 fish and give them to James to fillet for half. We each go home with 25 fillets and my knife never gets used. This method has been working for some time now.
