The Power Pro Super Slick 8 packaging had instructions INSIDE for how to tie a Palomar. Just sayin.

I may be one of the only guys on this forum that doesn't use a palomar knot. I don't like passing my lure back through a loop and I don't like thinking that I tied it wrong with lines crossed. So, I tie a uni knot for everything and it works just fine. I don't have any problems breaking at the knot with the uni. If I break, it's always a knick in my line somewhere that causes the break. So, I'll keep tying the uni.

Same, but I double the line on the uni, and tie a doubled uni

Always wonder what the obsession is with the palomar knot. The uni is quicker and easier to tie and just as strong if not stronger IMO. Only knot I use as connection other than a loop knot for certain applications.

I dont use the Palomar. No particular reason. I have always used a jam knot and have never had issues with it. Dont fix what isnt broken.

I've never been able to make a Palomar work with braid. I've been using braid ever since it came out, starting with Tuf-Line.

I tie what that goof ball on TV calls a Fishing Fool knot. I figured it out two - three years before it hit TV, but what the hey.

It's a round turn in the hook eye and a 7 turn uni. I built a knot testing jig probably 20 years ago because I couldn't get any knot I knew to hold in braid.

That knot will break the line every time. Actually when I was testing, 6 turns was all I needed, but I use 7 for safety.

Don't like to tie double line knots, except in FC. Just too many pieces of string going in the wrong place.

I know lots of better fishermen than me use the Palomar, but I can't make it work and I know how to tie it properly. That assumes Jason Sealock does.

I tie on all my lures with a uni knot. I tie all my braid to leader knots with a double uni knot. Just don't have any problems and easy to tie. A few years ago Bassmaster magazine compared different knot breaking strengths. A uni knot had a 90% breaking strength. Works for me.

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

I think double the uni as well. Palomar is great for braid though. I dont tie any knot with any line that doesnt have 2 loops around the hook eye.

Its not an obsession. Its a simplification. Its one knot that works on every line type and is within a couple percent of the lines breaking strength. There are only a couple knots that work on EVERY line type. And of those few, the palomar is the easiest for me to tie. If you use it often, it is a knot that you can cut and retire within 10-15 seconds...almost with your eyes closed, and it becomes second nature to do it correctly.
