What is your favorite lure for the surf? I am headed to Galveston the last week of June. Looking to catch Trout and Reds. Also, how does the surf typically fish that time of year?
Thanks for any input.

Good time of year June is. Wind often calms down on a more consistent basis by then. Walk the dog topwaters like skitterwalks are often really good. Mirrorlures, spoons, all can be good.
The surf can be just amazing at times, but it doesnt tend to stay that way for very long. June might be the best or my favorite month for using artificials in the surf year after year. You can get a week of wind and heavy surf or you can get much better conditions. Hard to know far in advance.
Surf has been churned up and windy for many days now. Ought to be outstanding once all that subsides. Usually, the first couple of days of wadeable surf after a big blow are the best, then sometimes things like ladyfish, bluefish move in if the surf stays calm for several days.
Coming from far away, you just need the weather to be on your side.

Jerry713,
You ever tried that bait with an Owner Under Spin? Just curious.

Thank you. We are staying at the last hotel where the seawall ends. Just curious, which end? East or west? If you are staying on East end I can point you to a couple of good spots.

If you are on the west side and the surf is acting up go and wade off the end of Sportsmans Rd. That is a great place for flounder, trout and reds. Also the occasional little shark.
