I cuss, probably too much. I became very aware of it in college when I was working with quite a few people who would never cuss. It got to where I was fairly embarrassed about it and I started try to watch it. I have an 18 year old now and I slip up around him sometimes, in the boat or driving around, and I have never heard him cuss and I have a lot of respect for him from that. I am the youngest of 4 boys and my parents never cussed when we were kids (they do around us now) but my brother's never held back when my parents weren't around.
All this to say, who here cusses in public places? It has gotten to where I can't take my little kids to public parks or places without people just shouting out cuss words like they are trying to make a scene. We were at the lake today and stopped fishing so the little ones could swim a little at a public Beach area and it was ridiculous. When did it become common or acceptable to just yell out cuss words regardless of the age of the other people around you? A lot of people are just yelling out cuss words at their own little kids. Is it really just that acceptable? Or is this my intro to becoming an olds?

I was at a lube change place in Lewisville and a customer dropped the F-bomb over a charge dispute. The owner called 911 and the cops came over and arrested her for disorderly conduct. It appears as if standards have changed.

I'm sorry if it were me...I do my darndest to keep it to a level that only my party can hear. I have noticed as I got older, that I'm starting to pull back as well.
Is it acceptable, only to those who don't think it's an issue. Around little kids and elderly, I watch my tongue and vocabulary as much as possible.

If younger kids are around, then it's not cool. If it's only adults, then it may still be tacky and uncivilized, but its not likely to cause harm to the listeners.

I've increased my vocabulary to the point where I can express my thoughts without cussing but I have noticed very few care to listen anymore. I guess an occasional $hit or dam kinda perks up the message.

I am not shouting out cuss words or anything, but I am not holding back either. But a lot of places I am talking about are places for kids, like public parks.

I never let a curse word slip out around my mother. I still remember what soap tastes like.

I am bad, I have taught my kids they are adult words and they can not use them. I would like to pre apologize to everyone when my kids become adults. They will by then have earned a doctorates degree in derogatory arts.

Most folks on here in a recent post said they don't care if people around them use the F bomb or otherwise. Because by God, it is freedom of speech. So if you are in line at the mickey dees with your wife and 7 year old daughter and some miscreant yute punks are slinging around filth, that is ok.

The other day may 9 year old told my 4 year old to shut up. The 4 year looked at me and said " brother said the F word". I laughed a bit
