Question I fish for crappie, catfish, white and hybrid bass with family and friends, like to fish fish black bass when fishing alone. i have had bass boats for years want to buy a new or new to me boat.
Would you buy a Bass Boat or a Center Console for all around fishing. I have looked at all types both Glass and Aluminum.
To add to my choices I am 55 want a boat that will last.

If I could have got it in my garage I woulda bought a CC. My buddy has a 22' Skeeter CC and we bass fish out of it all the time. The only downside I see with a CC is the rod box and tackle storage is scare too. I bought a Skeeter ZX 190 because that's the biggest I could get in my garage.

I am a Senager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50 years later. I get an allowance every month. I have PU truck and a bass boat, I am blessed.

A center console is much more flexible unless you are just after bass. You can fish more people and saltwater fishing is an option.

I also fish both salt and fresh, and I prefer a center console. Salt is my passion, so I do most of my fresh water fishing during the winter months. You should check out Majek boats if you decide on a CC.

I would really think about the CC. Bluewave makes a good Bay boat and they have different designs depending on what you are after. They have some Bay boats that draft 7-8". That boat is 22'2" long with a 200. That boat can do about whatever you want and it will be cheaper then most bass boats. They have them all the way up to 28' with 557 HP.

I have always had a bass boat until this year. With 5 kids I switched the a center console, simply because my wife was threatening with a pontoon boat (mini van of the lake). So bought a 22 ft Basscat Bay Cat, gives me the bass boat layout with the room of a center console. Good luck.

Had spinal surgery about 3 years ago. Made getting into and out of the drivers seat of a bass boat next to impossible. Switched to a bay boat and after having it a little over 2 years now I wonder why I didn't make the switch years ago. About the only draw backs to a bay boat for bass fishing is the taller gunnels catch more wind but nothing my X5i cant handle and its not as fast.

I had bass boats for 40 years. Eight years ago I bought a Nautic Star 22' Tournament CC. Great rod storage (Locking) and good dry storage.

Do not under power the boat. Get a 225 HP + motor. Also look at iPilot Minn Kota troll motor. Being able to anchor with the troll motor is awesome. I live in north Texas. Bought my boat at Houston Boat Show. Saved $10k over dealers in north Texas. Shop, shop, shop. I looked at all of the CC boats. Lot of nice rigs available. The Nautic Star had everything I wanted. Took 3 years to make up my mind about which rig to buy. Truly, never disappointed by the decision I made.

I can pretty much fish the same areas and water I did in my 18' bass boat. Plus, my wife loves the boat and feels safer.

For me, the problem with bass fishing in a CC has been the high sides. Xpress has some dang nice CC aluminum boats. The sides don't appear to be near as high as conventional CC boats. On the other hand, My BIL fishes both salt and fresh out of an 18' Mako. He really likes it.

I predominantly bass fish out of my Skeeter SX220.

I have yet to be prevented from fishing how or where I want to fish.

Have fished Amistad with 4 guys, everybody had a place to sit and plenty of room for everyones gear.

Ive always said I would keep the CC as long as kids were in the house and get a bass boat later. After having the CC for nearly 5 years, I can think of no reason to get a bass boat. 56-58 mph is fast enough for me and I can Fish how I want. Not as worried about scratching up my glitter boat either.

I always stay dry a little higher up in the center as well.
