WAGO's like in the video above suck.
Wirenuts are trustworthy, Just twist your wires together prior to installing the wirenut. Use a pair of Klien Journeyman pliers to twist your wires. Using Klein, I like that, my son is a production manager at Klein Tools in Mansfield. Hes given me a few tools from there and theyre solid.

Used thousands when I was doing HVAC as did every other technician I worked with and knew and followed.. Tightened then to the point they popped out the end of the wire nut before. I always tape with electrical tape after completing the nutted connect ( helps prevent any vibration from compromising the connection).
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

Depends on whats it being used in. Sometimes wire nuts are sufficient. Sometimes they arent.

I have installed thousands of them. Just use the good stuff. I use Ideal brand. I have been known to twist my wires and then wirenut it just to be sure, but you are not supposed to do that. Just tighten them very well.
Ive never seen one fail. This.

Crimp connectors and push in connectors are a fire waiting to happen. Any sizable Amp load will create an arc which will grow over time. When the arc gets large enough it will become a flame. Wire nuts are solid. If you use the push in connection on electrical outlets, and the outlets are on a GFCI, be prepared to trouble shoot a tripping GFCI in a few years. I just found 1 in my garage. Now I get to chase down the rest of my outlets to do it right.

Those are the worst things ever invented for wires. I cant count the number of failures I have seen them cause. The vendors that supply our electrical parts are told if they ever try to sell those to our shop mangers they will be gone. The Wago connectors are right behind them.

Im in the wire nut camp too... The only thing to add is to make sure you use the correct size. Too small will only grab the tip of the wires and too big could work loose over time. A couple wraps of electrical tape makes me feel better, but its not necessary if you are using the correct size.

As long as you use the right color scotchlock for the wire size and number of conductors, they should work as advertised. Good soldering best practices for electrical connections usually teach that the first line of defense is a good mechanical connection, then follow with solder. The same principle should follow for mechanical connections (wirenuts) like many have stated above. First twist the wires with Klein linemans pliers, then install the wire nuts. Taping to prevent vibration loosening is ok. They make scotchlocks too for wet locations. They have a water resistant grease and rubber covering to help keep water out. Not water proof, but water resistant.
