I had a package coming from the N.E. that finally made its way to the San Antonio main post office and instead of being delivered the next day it went to Kentucky. Don't know why being that it had my S.A. address on it. When I finally got it, it must have been postmarked 15 times. That package had more miles it than I do, and i'v been around.

It's not just USPS. I had a UPS package that went from Minnesota to Houston. I'm in DFW.

Standard procedure for the USPS, ordered a lawnmower part it shipped from Saint Louis Mo, to San Antonio Tx then to Shreveport La then to Longview Tx. It took 9 days and went 1,382 miles to go 600 miles. Really efficient.

Wife mailed a package to her mom in NB, Canada last year (small care package with some homemade crochet and other items ... about a pound and about 4"x4"x8" packaging. Was scanned in Chicago, Ill 24 times (daily) before making the customs exchange in Toronto. Took a month to get to her mom. We usually budget about 10 days and the slow-up is usually Canadian post.

A bad barcode can have that package looping until a pair of human eyes attached in the eye sockets of a diligent employee happens to realize the looping culprit.

I'd be more upset with UPS. That's what UPS Mail Innovations is. They deliver the package to the nearest regional mail facility and USPS handles "last mile" delivery. It's done for small packages because USPS hits every address every day. The trade-off is that it's cheaper to ship, but takes longer. FedEx's version is called SmartPost.
