I've been looking at a lake house there. Just wondering if anyone has any information on the lake and area. Good, bad or ugly. Cheers, George

Murvaul is the lake we go to when we cat fish, we destroy them out there... The bass fishing use to be phenomenal until they killed all the grass.. I've been fishing two or three times in the past couple years since they killed the grass and haven't had much luck. It's a slot lake so there are quality bass in there. Murvaul is actually where I caught my PB. I still keep up with their Thursday night tournaments on Facebook and they still whack em majority of the time. The lake community itself is great from what I have experienced. Everyone stays to themselves.. My buddy lives out there and always have a great time when I am out there. So my opinion it would be a great place to have a lake house on. Hope this helps some.

Like I said, I am not sure about this year... but I do know last year we went out there to bass fishing and haven't went back since because we couldn't find any..Our normal spots by the bridge and a couple other areas was just muddy water

Its a great place for a lake house. My grandfather had a lake house there 15+ years ago throughout my childhood. It's a great lake. Good community and not alot of trashy people. Fishing is excellent. Crappie and Catfish are everywhere. Like ETX said, the grass and reeds are no longer there. That doesn't mean the bass are not in there. You just have to find them in different areas. I bass fish there often and prefer it over some of the other big lakes. Before TFF and facebook, it was a hidden gem.
Hope this helps.

I'll share with you a couple of fish we caught when the reeds were really healthy on the lake side of the bridge... The big fish are still there, just don't travel enough over there anymore to find them! These were about 5-6 years ago back when she was still my girlfriend not my wife lol

The bass are still there, as are the crappie and cats. It was catch and release today but we boated 83 crappie by lunch time. The lake was sprayed for salvinia last year and a lot of other vegetation was killed also. Personally it was a good trade off as I would hate to see salvinia ruin such a good fishery. There are several nice places for sale on Murvaul. I would prefer Jones Branch but anywhere on Murvaul would be a good place. Good luck in your search.
