I live in College Station, and Ive been looking everywhere for a spot to catch carp. I only know of two spots at the moment, Lake Bryan (which Ive had almost zero success at. Ive only managed to catch one small common, maybe 2lb) and Lake Somerville (which I havent actually managed to catch a carp at yet. Only buffalo). Every now and again I make the drive to Austin and fish Lady Bird Lake, but I was hoping to find somewhere a little closer.

welcome to the TFF! I recognize you from Fishbrain wink

Never fished in the area but I'll send you a PM with some interesting looking spots.

Catch and release. The dream - to catch one of every species of Freshwater fish in our great state! If only I can resist Carp...

When I was in school I could always catch carp to the east of the bridge on Lake Bryan, where the channel joins the main lake. Never anything of any size but my only two mirrors came from that lake. Carp and buffalo can be caught under the spillway at Gibbons Creek Reservoir too. I never had any luck finding bigger carp/buffalo in the Bryan/College Station area. I'm sure the Brazos River holds some bigger fish if you can find access. If you don't have a kayak you might think about investing in one. There are some pretty good spots on the Brazos for all kinds of fish accessible via kayak.
