Some of my Z Man baits refuse to stand up on a ned jighead. I put them in water and try to get all the salt out
but some of them will not stand up. It's weird because other baits from the same package stand up without a
problem. Using mostly the finesse TRD and the big TRD.

Anybody else experience this, anybody got any suggestions?

Z-Man baits are pretty persnickety is what I�m finding. Take them indoors with you every time. Do not let them sit out in heat.

Stretch them to get the salt out

Would boiling them remove the salt? Maybe try that.

I have tried putting them in boiling water to get more salt out-they seem to get real soft when I do that. Still
won't stand up.

I agree with this. They need to be taken care of for sure. I have not had the no floating issue that I know of anyway. I started a thread about them melting together some time back and the Z-Man people posted and said that they left theirs in their garages in summer (in South Carolina I think) and was not a problem. Mine stay in the boat storage out of the boat and stored only with other Z-Man products and I just did not find this to be accurate.

Ive had zero issues since not mixing them with other plastics. I fish in 100 degree weather, but dont store my vessel in anything baking like texas temps under a car port etc..

I fished with Mille Lacs Josh Douglass who fishes the FLW tour. He threw the whole bag in the water at boats edge. If they didn�t float properly he wouldn�t use them. One or two would get culled. I think he also stretched them before putting them in the water. Caught plenty of fish on the ones he kept to fish.

I've had them deform in the heat. Got a bunch of worms that are flat on one side, definitely need to be kept in climate control long term.

I have been noticing if I overweight the ned rig, then they sink but it could be user error. good fish catchers though

Apologies for the issue with your TRDs not floating. ElaZtech is a very buoyant material itself, though we add salt to the TRDs and some of our other baits to add taste, texture, and a little bit extra weight for casting. Keeping the salt content 100% consistent is very difficult, so some baits may have slightly more salt, which could cause them to sink or not stand up on a jighead. If this is the case, all you need to do is stretch and rub the baits to remove some of the salt until they float. We actually recommend doing this with the TRDs anyways because it gives the baits a spongier texture that has more action and that fish hold onto for longer.

Be careful with them in the boat. I had one rigged on a drop shot with the rod stowed next to the back seat in my Ranger. The bait apparently perfectly aligned with the boat's passenger side 'oh s###' handle. Was only there for part of a day and completely melted and deformed the boat handle. It's a mess.

They do not play well with other types of plastic that is for sure.
