You can still fish on both sides, I was there on Friday. But they have moved the boundary even further from the dam than before. You can't fish along the rocks on the side with the generators, you have to be further down, where there are steps going down to the water. Not a lot of flow, 2200 cfs on Friday. Caught one small hybrid.
It's a shame that they have ruined that spot, it used to be tremendous. Caught a ton of fish while standing on the wall that forms the stilling basin in the 90s, including a 5 lb smallmouth and stripers up to 18 lbs. Sure wish it was still possible to fish there.

Was actually 1200 cfs on Friday, not 2200.

Release is just over 6,000 cfs at the moment. I''m expecting more soon due to the lake being 21.15 feet above normal, flooded.

Okay thanks. Yeah, it's a shame. Too many good fishing spots keep getting taken away.

They will let Whitney continue to fill and spread out letting it down slowly. Granbury is a drop in the bucket of what Whitney can hold. As.of Sunday afternoon, Whitney flood pool was only 47% full at 554.35 feet. Hopefully it won't rise to top of flood pool, 571 feet. Has not been that high since May, 1957.

Whitney releasing 16,053 cfs as of 1:09pm 5/1319.
I wonder if it's going to make Striper fishing better OR worse at the Whitney Dam ?
Please let me know if someone has fished the dam at these water level.

You cant fish along the rocks any more. Youll have to fight with everyone fishing on the catwalk.

I crossed the dam last Saturday. wooooweee. flooded. All the parks were under water.
Not sure where you could launch down there right now.
Trailrace was ginning.
