We got sniffed at Amistad several months ago. Better have your plug out when you pull up to the ramp or you could be looking at a ticket.

So do they also inspect the migratory birds, as well?

unless they train them to shoot waterfowl that transfer things in the water it is a waste of time.

Might be a waste of time, but they are doing it. They dont seem too concerned with wildlife spreading them.

So Draining boats is imperative to stop invasive species like Zebra Mussels? How many hundreds of thousands of gallons of water are being released through the dams of infected lakes? Yeah that couple of gallons from boat is gonna make a huge difference. Another way to collect revenue and a get a atta boy clap on the back for doing nothing

Yep. If they were truly concerned, theyd have a hose ready to go, to rinse the boat when departing.

Makes you wonder how they survive in the Trinity River from Ft Worth to Liberty Texas too. And in the other lakes below.
Infested Lakes - Fifteen Texas lakes in five river basins can be classified as fully infested with zebra mussels, meaning the water body has an established, reproducing population: Austin, Belton, Bridgeport, Canyon, Dean Gilbert (a 45-acre Community Fishing Lake in Sherman), Eagle Mountain, Georgetown, Lady Bird, Lewisville, Livingston, Randell (local Denison access only), Ray Roberts, Stillhouse Hollow, Texoma, and Travis. There are also lakes that are "positive" and there are lakes that are "suspect" and lakes that are "inconclusive".
State regulations require draining of water from boats and onboard receptacles when leaving or approaching public fresh waters. From the TPW website: Zebra mussels start as microscopic larvae and grow to only 1.5 inches long. They can spread across Texas by hitching a ride on your boat, trailer or gear. Do your part to protect Texas lakes. Always clean, drain and dry your boat. It's the law -- fines up to $500.
Yet the CWA/Corp of Engineers/City of Houston are allowed to introduce them into Lake Houston. The Luce Bayou Project will bring the Trinity River into Lake Houston in December of this year. Along with the Zebra mussels, they will also be bringing in Dioxins and PCB's from the Trinity River.
I would rather fish than eat and I stay hungry all the time. REGARDLESS OF HOW MANLY YOU THINK YOU ARE WEARING A PFD CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE....

My favorite part of the war on zebra muscles is the glossy painted warnings on the boat ramps. I enjoy watching people spinning tires for 20 minutes while I wait to use the ramps.
Woke up this morning Got yourself a gun....
