I like Falcon Cara Amistad. It's a runs about $235 new. You could try the Falcon Expert @ $199 or Lowrider version @$130 Really good multi use rod.

Falcon Cara Jason Christie Frog Rod

I made the switch to this rod earlier this year from a 7’4” H Cara & have been super pleased. The Christie Frog Rod is shorter at 6’11”, but has the same action/make up as the 7’3” H Amistad. It’s super light (weight wise) with a split grip & the shorter length allows for precision accuracy.

I throw a frog a lot and I use the Megabass Orochi XX Perfect Pitch or the Megabass Levante Perfect Pitch. Love them both. The Levante series model will be in your price range and if you get a chance you might want to check them out.

When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip!

I have bought a new Diawa Steez SVF XBD frog rod off the half price rack at Southwest Service in Dallas. $220 So, with a little searching , the best frog rod made is in your budget. I have heard that the Zillion frog rod uses the same blank and TiSiC Fuji guides and its regular retail is $299. Might find one of those on sale somewhere

The trick to a good frog rod is the guides and tip. It needs to be braid proof, rated to 80lb braid and have just enough flex in the tip to help "walk" the bait, then transition really quickly to a big backbone to get the fish free from cover fast...before it can dig in.

Those prefect pitch rods can't handle any abuse. I have had two of them. The guides flatten out on them then break. Sorry Megabass lovers, these rods are not good for fishing on grassy lakes. They aren't built to handle the thick stuff. The Diawas have doubled footed guides and x45 blanks. They will survive most anything.

My Perfect Pitch rods have done just fine on grass lakes from Fork, Rayburn, Bend and Caddo for years. Both generations of each lineup. Have yet to break one in 6 years. Just goes to show experiences vary.

I can also tell you that nationally that model sees very little breakage. Its tracked by model and region. The Perfect Pitch rarely has any issues even from regions heavy with grass lakes.

Dobyns Champion 735 and 736 have been great over the last 6-7years for me. Great balance of an extra fast tip, backbone and length.

Big difference between rod breaking and guides flattening out on heavier fish. I have never broken a MB rod. I have had the guides replaced 3 times on two rods, that you personally talked me into buying at fun and sun. I ain't mad at ya. After I replaced the guides, I sold them. End of my experience with them. You obviously represent them. I don't have to sweet talk about them. I can choose to buy em. If I am not happy with them, of find out that they can't be fished "my style", I sell em. The two I had couldn't handle 65 lb braid, 8-9lb fish, and the presence of Lilly pads. Lol. Maybe they are ok for you on those lakes, but pad fishing on Athens or Clark is not a great idea with those. Maybe they make a stronger rod than their pitching rod that would be better suited for frog fishing?

I don't have to sweet talk them either. If you had a bad one we for sure want to know and get a chance to make it right. Sorry you had issues with them. You should have let me know and I would have got them swapped out for you.
I landed a 10lber from the pads at Fork with a Perfect Pitch. I did a HH show on Clark with Bill and used them there too. Again in 6 years not one issue. No guIde straightening out either. Sometimes we all just have different experiences using a product. Glad you found a model you liked even if it was a different brand. cheers
