Just wondering if anyone from here lives or fish lake Granbury . So sick of our lake Whitney being flooded out every year and thinking about selling it and finding a place on Granbury .

Good friend been living N. end of lake for 10+ yrs. He was pissed bout 6/7 years ago brazos r.a. wasselling water to oilfield frack. his boat dock was dry for several years he couldn't sell it. Now He veeeery happy, still there.

I have fished lLake Granbury since the mid 80s. It has had its ups and downs. Golden algae kills have been a major issue in the past, but fortunately it has not been an issue for about ten years. There was also an issue with the Brazos River Authority over selling water and the lake was 11 feet low for a couple of years but I think they learned their lesson. So the good part is that Lake Granbury is basically a constant level lake. It normally only fluctuates a few feet. Also the fishing has really improved the last few years. Striper, white bass, largemouth bass, carp, buffalo, crappie, and sunfish are all doing well. It is also nice to be able to buy a house right on the lake so you can walk right out of your house onto your dock.

Thanks for the imfo sick of the corp flooding Whitney . Whats the use in having our lake house some were we can even use the lake .Looking for a lake that is close to Venus , maybe even east Texas ?

I have had my place for two years. Keep in mind that the flooding in Whitney is partly do to the fact that Granbury cannot hold much water above normal level. When PK starts releasing, the lake is brought down to pass all of that water through to Whitney so that the million dollar homes built on the edge of the water don�t flood. During flood events the lake will go up and down 6 inches every day. So basically, you get the messed up lake without the damage. Granbury is way more of a recreational lake. Lots of timber and a narrow river channel to run in. Get your fishing in early .

Case in point concerning Lake Granbury. There was nearly 4 inches of rain in Granbury overnight. The Corps of Engineers lake release page indicates that Lake Granbury is down 0.11 feet and they are releasing 22322 CFS from the dam. At the same time they are only releasing 1254 CFS from Whitney and the lake is 17.77 feet high. Lake Whitney is a Corps of Engineers flood storage dam while Lake Granbury is not.

Update on Whitney lake level: It currently sits at 21.15 feet above conservation level (normal level) in real time.
