I lost my spinnerbait rod over the side of the boat today when running in heavy chop. All rods were strapped, except that rod was evidently on top of the strap. Anyways, it was a Loomis NRX 853 with a Shimano Curado reel. I am not wanting to spend that much on another NRX Rod. What rod do you all recommend for a good spinnerbait rod. I want some tip to sling the bait but plenty of backbone as well. I like the 71 rods or a length close to this. $200 -$300 budget for the rod and $250 for the reel. What do you say? Go...

Kevin Smith - Shamrock rods. Have him build you a custom rod using the 6'9" SB-812 MHX custom blank. Will be less expensive than you think and is an awesome for Spinnerbait/Chatterbaits. Shamrockrods.com

Dobyns Champion 734 or Falcon Cara Swim jig although I'm not sure Falcon hasn't discontinued this rod? Hard to find and they are not listing any Cara's in their on line rod catalog. Maybe a Falcon guy can let us know what the story is there.

I picked up one of these for bladed jigs and spinners last spring. I really like it. Most composite rods are heavy. This one is not. Perfect action for slinging spinners. Priced right too. Pair it with a new Curado K in 6.2:1 and you are good to go.

Shamrockrods.com I use the Metallic Series blank for my Spinnerbait rod. The thing is; it will be yours, built to your specification with the help of Kevin's experience of years of building.

I completely read this post wrong. I thought it said spinning rod. Please ignore everything I said.

Shamrockrods.com I always liked a Falcon MH just a hair under 7' but don't think they make the 6'8" to 6'11" casting rods anymore, as the industry has gone to more 7'+ rods. I now use a dobyns 733 for spinnerbaits.
