"Reducing the number of teams would not affect the percentage of fish kills."

That statement might be true, but the number of teams most certainly affects the actual number of fish killed and I'm fairly sure that is the concern.

I bought a place at Rayburn because of Conroe, may have to rethink.

Yeppers, same here. I only live 45 minutes from the lake but I stay away most weekends. There needs to be some control of tourneys on this lake.

Don't come to Fork then... Huge numbers of boaters is just a fact of life here and has been forever.

BMCD noted the cars all along 255. If they are going to park there, then maybe the local sheriff's department should be contracted to provide a bit of traffic control, maybe slow people down a bit through that area. Just a thought.

Dont do it! Go out again for a weekend on Conroe and youll remember why you bought the place on Rayburn. My son and fished Conroe Sunday and hadnt been on Conroe in a couple of months. I had forgotten how rough and crowded it is and seems to get worse every summer. Plus, I only caught one fish which made it even worse. roflmao

Police were at the intersection on Sunday.

Agree and if we want to be honest about it, the bigger ones seem to die easier that the little ones.

Water temps in the 70's but ya I agree with the post spawn part. Wonder how many die from the Sealy big bass with 5800 entries? It's amazing that lake even has fish in it

What's stopping the high schoolers from weighing them in the boat? They have a boat captain. And its not like they are fishing for a boat.

They do weigh them in the boat if they want to.
Do you weigh yours in the boat?
Do you fish for boats?

With what I have seen of the high school deals it would be a trainwreck

Let's be honest. What amateur tournament trail would the weigh and release deal not be a trainwreck? I wouldn't trust 99% of the bass fishermen I know in an MLF format style tournament. The only way that deal works is with a randomly assigned paid marshal. In fact I think it would be an even bigger trainwreck in tournaments with real money on the line.

All but 5 of the 75 Marshalls at Lake Fork last week were repeats, some as far back as the original TTBC in 2007. They're volunteers, so getting paid is not necessarily the answer. But trying to find 500 Marshals would be an impossible task. I think the SETX high school events should...

1. Limit the field to no more than 150 teams at any one tournament. Split it up and have three separate events to accommodate all the kids.

2. Go to 3 fish limits from May through September.

3. MAKE their Captains and kids complete a class on fish care before ever hitting the water.

4. Increase the penalty for dead fish, although that might lead to culling of dead fish. Bring in a dead fish, it doesn't count. To heck with 1/2 and 1 pound penalties.

5. Do a better job of policing their own when a boat/team breaks tournament rules. To heck with the snitches get stitches, BS.
