I fished PK last evening down in Neely Slough. I caught a nice box of crappie last time out and thought I might be able to do that again. Marked some nice size schools of fish and figured they must be sand bass. There were a few 6 inch sand bass in those schools but the schools consisted of unlimited numbers of 10-12 inch stripers. With the rains we are having this year, I expect more of the same.

John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

Those are probably from the 700,000 fry and fingerling TPWD stocked in the lake in 2017 and 2018. Depending on size, they might also be some of the 267,000 fingerling stocked by TPWD in 2015.

Enjoy catching unlimited fish. Fun regardless of size IMO.

Send some of those over the dam to Granbury. I think that we lost all of ours to Whitney.

TPWD was netting across from Skycamp late fall of 2017 to sample lakes fish , Stripers. He told us that the lake had a natural spawn two years in a row starting 2015.

Flood is already here Butch. Brown water was at south D and D before the last big rain. Neely slough is muddy and I expect the whole lake to go brown soon. Seems like it's either drought or flood for west Texas.

I'm sure the stripers made good use of the floods to spawn. The huge numbers of small stripers I am seeing are not likely from the state throwing a pitiful amount of fingerlings in the lake. I've toured the fish hatchery and they have a few stripers in a big tank they use to get eggs that produce stripers and Hybrids for every lake in Texas. Even if they put every single one of those fingerlings in PK it would be less than 1% of what would be produced if just the stripers north of Costello spawned.

We are going to be there next weekend, 17-19. Any chance it will clear up by then? I know we have more rain coming next week.
