Situation...
I run a 2007 Tr21X2 with a 250 pro xs, hydraulic jack plate, 25p Fury and tournament load.
I picked up a 26p Fury for a spare and ran it yesterday. Hole shot was slow but steady and ended up figuring out how to make it better by adjusting the up on takeoff. What I’m worried about is it will only max out at 5000rpm but that’s running 65mph upstream.
Does slinging a bigger wheel put undo stress on the motor or lower unit?

Yes, you’re over lugging it. Even your 25 is too much, unless your tach is incorrect.

the 26 for a spare is okay..
how many rpms were you turning the 25"

that engine needs to turn 5800-6000 at w.o.t.

Steve.... I'm the guy that emailed you yesterday. I turn 58-5900 with the 25.
That being said I recently purchased a vessel view system and will be getting good numbers once all the rain passes NEXT WEEK... Gotta love SETX!

Also the 25 has been worked by Steve per the previous owner. The 26 is stock so I can only assume that is why there is 8-900 rpm difference between "1" pitch.

If that is possible, then it’s truly amazing.

You are probably emailing JOSH at Steve's Custom Props. i haven't worked a prop in over 4 years now. Josh owns the shop not me.

i just build jack plates, and work (kinda) for S2 Marine. selling ballistic boats and now Havoc boats.

If that is true I want a refund from Steve on the prop he did for me because I got nothing like that out of it. Also I am taking my current prop to have it worked on this weekend. I am going to guess there is something not right with that 26 but to drop rpms that much it should be obvious, Not sure you could get that much cup in one and 1" should = a 150 rpm drop.

how do you know the 26 is a real 26p ... has it been verified on pitch gauges?

1* of pitch is 200 rpms... usually

btw.. it's Josh at Steves Custom Props (for the last 4 years)

i'm steve, but i don't do props anymore.

The prop was sold to me as slightly used and had not been worked... I have not had it verified yet.
As soon as I get my original prop back I will run it and get good some good rpm numbers off my vessel view and have the 26p worked to compliment my 25p. My plan is to be able to maximize the performance of the boat with these two props. Having one for full load tourney days and the other for fun/light loaded days.
As for the 25p that was worked by Steve.... my boat is an 07 so its quite possible that Steve actually did the prop but who ever worked it they knew what they were doing.
I can typically touch 6000rpm on my analog tach with the worked 25. I figured I would at least be able to turn the "stock" 26p around 5600 to 5700 rpm.... that didn't happen! Keep in mind I was running the 26p with my jack plate buried which is about 1 inch lower than where I run the 25p. When I would inch the 26p up it would lose speed faster than gaining rpm's so I just kept it buried.
My 25p should be ready this week and my vessel view is installed so I'm looking forward to my next trip out and see what the true numbers are and get the 26p worked off that information.
It will be a few weeks but I will post my findings after I get it all dialed in.
