My father in law is having to take disability for life for personal reason... and taking a pretty good pay cut now. So I was going to pay him to recarpet my boat...

What is the average cost of labor at a boat shop that does recarpeting?? Any professionals in here??

Some cheaper carpet places can get you out for $1000, that's real cheap, up to about $2000 at real expensive places. 1500 is kind of the sweet spot. Paying enough you know you're getting a good job done, but also getting a decent deal. Labor is intense on a recarpet. The carpet itself is fairly cheap.

This for sure! Sometimes the old glue gives up the old carpet easy, sometimes it has to damn near be sanded off.

I would really like to get mine done but it sounds like I'm gonna be doing it myself.

I can send you some pics when he gets done with mine if you like? He told me he would recarpet mine for free cause it needs to be done and he fishes with me all the time... but since he has been put on disability I am going to pay him for it.
