Went out to another Carp Angler's Group monthly meetup with the North Texas crew and everyone absolutely hauled! We ended up with well over 1,000lbs of Carp and Buffalo. Countless doubles, several triples, and even one insane instance in which we had 7 fish at once! Only 5 pictured, there's one fish in the cradle and the photographer had to release his to take the photo!

A week prior I met up with some buddies and fished in an area where the fish have got to be on steroids or something. They pulled significantly harder than normal, so hard in fact that I was sore for 3 days afterwards. That hasn't happened to me since I first started Carp fishing! Can't wait to go back and catch some more of these brutes!

At one point while I was fighting a fish I attracted the attention of a young man, his father, and a Bass fisherman passing by. The young man was fascinated by the size and beauty of the 29lb Smallmouth Buffalo I had caught, and asked to hold it. I showed him how, and sure enough my buddy had a run right after so we let the young man (8y/o) fight it! After a hard fought battle with a few power grunts here and there, we netted this future angler's gorgeous 26lb Smallmouth Buffalo!

The one that drew 'em in!

This fish was made all the more impressive by the fact that he was wearing roller skates. Every time the fish pulled he'd roll a bit towards the water, lol

As we were wrapping up the photos of the youngun's capture, my rod tore off! I sprinted towards it, set the drag, and passed it off to the Bass fisherman. He fought it in like a seasoned professional, and soon enough was holding his own native beauty at a solid 24lbs. I look forward to potentially seeing both of them catch some of these amazing fish on their own in the future!

Impressive! Not just the fish but the camaraderie. You are truly a stewart of carp fishing. My niece's boyfriend works for the Park Dept., and there's a nice city community park nobody fishes (but me with a fly rod), and I think the lay-out would work...open, lots of large, grassy areas along the perimeter, and scads of carp of unknown size. I think it would be great for a carp tourney but...how is the fishing really? If you ever want to put a crew together to test it, I'd be happy to handle logistics, including pre-baiting per your instructions. I know the lake pretty well, and have a map I can share.

Thanks Bob! Sounds interesting for sure, this year we've been exploring lots of new places. If you want to check it out with a bunch of anglers it might not make it as a monthly event but I've organized a couple events on my own. To help set it as a monthly event destination we like to get an idea of the size and population of the fish there first, I'm not sure if we've ever fished a water that was truly an unknown. PM or text me the details and we'll work it out from there!

The golden one is a Common Carp, a naturalized species of minnow here in Texas. The silvery ones are Smallmouth Buffalo, a native sucker species. They're definitely gorgeous fish, and they pull something fierce!

Can you explain this further? I have never heard Carp described that way?
