Thanks everyone. Here is how it shook out. Ive been on the TVA system of lakes around 6 times. I had not spent any time on Guntersville. Im a big believer in a 2 prong approach in a multi day tournament. I look for 2 opposite patterns to give me more consistency. I LOVE bridge fishing so that was an easy choice for 1 pattern. Those spot funnel pre & post spawn fish. I caught them on a spinning rod for numbers, & a xcite shad nasty (smaller swimbait) & a True Bass (bigger swimbait) on the pillars & corners. The True Bass jig head were screw lock and made it a lot easier to keep from tearing up the bait. Part 2.. I looked shallow for bed fish knowing the full moon was coming. I didnt see anything that I could compete with. I knew then to focus on post spawn. The full moon wont make them move like a pre spawn fish. I idles several areas in front of spawning bays. I found an area that is about 4 football fields in size. It had scattered grass. Hydrilla & eel grass. Eel grass is a better current block than hydrilla on a river lake. I had 2 big bites in practice on the edge & knew I needed to expand my search. The next day I spent the entire day in that big area. I found 4 sweet spots that had shell in between the grass beds. The flat was 4-7 on top with the river channel within 2 cast away.
Day 1 I had over 20lbs offshore on the Dialed Arm Breaker then ran bridges with the swimbait in the afternoon. I culled up to 25lbs and change. 22lbs was 2nd place.
Day 2 my goal was 22lbs. I had 21lbs again on the TX Rig Dialed Armbreaker & said I need one more cull. I bombed it out on a shell bed & whacked a 7-10. That put me over 25lbs again. My lead was over 16lbs going into the final day.
We had a big rain come in day 2 evening. I was not sure how it would affected the bite.
Day 3 it was slower. I caught them dragging a D bomb. I had close to 20lbs at 8:30. I decided to let my roommate have the spot in hope to get a high finish. I fished bridges on the way back but didnt cull up. I ended with over 70lbs and my day 2 weight was better that 190 boats 3 day total. It was a very blessed event.

Yes, I was dragging it on a Tx rig super slow. Guys with me threw similar baits but didnt catch as many. I think its the baits scent & how slow I fished it. The hard spots on the bottom in between grass beds were critical.
