Do y'all have any issues with that? do you also use crank baits with braid to leader? I am very interested in maybe trying this setup out to save money and memory issues when using all fluro.

There are potential issues. If you are going from braid to a much thinner lighter flouro leader you can have a hard time getting the FG knot to lock. You can have the same problem if you are using braid designed to be really slick. I try and use the FG knot whenever I can make it work. In some cases though, like if I'm smallmouth fishing ultra clear water and I'm going for 15lb braid down to 5lb flouro, the FG just isn't going to work. In those cases, I have to go back the the Alberto knot. So why not just use the Alberto all the time? The FG is thinner, it lasts longer particularly if you are casting through the guides, and it's 30% stronger than the Alberto.

In terms of going braid to flouro for cranking. You can get away with this as long as you are not trying to max out your depth on the crank bait. If you are throwing a 6xd and trying to bump bottom in 18 feet of water, you will not be able to do this with braid to flouro. I very often do it though if I'm throwing a 2.0 and am not really worried about losing a little bit of depth on the crankbait retrieve.

Also, if you are tying the FG make sure you lubricate and cinch the daylights out of it before you cut the tag ends.

I tried to go braid to floyronleader on my bait casting setups and got tired of the connection knot getting caught or propping out ceramic inserts in my guides.

I tried using braid on my setups a while back and I couldn't stand how much braid catches the wind and floats. Do y'all use a really thin diameter braid? Like 20-30 lb?

Always surprised more people do not have more problems with this. I tie small tight clean knots and it still rarely goes smoothly through my guides. Love the idea of the sensitivity of braid and the lower visibility of a leader but it was a no go for me too.

Thanks for the info on the FG knot. Been tying Alberto knots but this looks better.

I hate fluorocarbin line. I have tried from the least expensive to the most expensive and do not like any of it. It's downside far exceeds it's upside for me. It retains memory, is hard to cast and breaks too easily. I have gone back to Trilene big game on baitcasters and Trilene XL for my spinning rods and won't change back!!

Fluorocarbon line is good stuff, just because you can't seem to be able to figure out how to use it does not mean that it is "krap" as you call it. Tons of people use it and do not have any problem with it. That should tell you something.

Tons of people would use toilet paper for line if the pros said it was better and I can fish as well as any of u other online pros and I still don't like it

I don't understand the frustration with fluoro. I can keep line on a reel for months and not have any memory issues. I use Invisx and Red Label 98% of the time. I will use Abrasx at Falcon or for punching. Oh and I have never used line conditioner.
