Does anyone have any experience with these good or bad? I Stumbled across their website www.ducerods.com and the spiral guides looked pretty interesting, not sure if it's a gimmick or if there is some merit to them. Interesting none the less. Also a good looking rod.

good quality rod, used for trout/reds when i lived in LA..LA based company. I'd put it up against any of the popular rods in the same price point without question.

I have used the spiral wrap rods and I could not tell any kind of difference in the performance. I don't think it is a gimmick but can't confirm any performance advantage or disadvantage. Visually it takes getting use to but you eventually refocus and just go about your day as normal. If the price point is right and you like the rod I say try it.

They are just copying Moby Rods built by Guide Dave Settle of Lake Fork. Dave has been building these rods for 20 years plus. His shop is in the same facility as Oak Ridge Marina on SH 154 just south of the Lake Fork bridge.
They are great rods.

I have used the spiral wrap rods. They were built Joe Gravies, who taught Bill Harrison over 20 years ago. My wife still uses two of them for throwing crank baits, spinner baits. The only problem I had with them was when I tried ti pitch or flip with them. Seemed to me the line didn't want to come off as smooth as I thought it should.
