Is this possible?
I've never been but would like to give it a try. I have some days off next week and thought I'd drive over (I'm in the Houston area).
I don't have a boat or kayak, but do have some wading boots. I'm thinking of going to the South end but anywhere with access to the water will do. Are there any spots for wading down there? or bank fishing? or piers?
I'll be throwing artificials if that makes a difference.
Any insight is greatly appreciated.

not too familiar with Sabine, but there's a shoreline on the west side that has a mile or so of rock and there's a road along it that i've seen cars driving on. not sure if it's public or not. try to find it on google earth.

South end has a large dock/pier near the bridge and ramp. They also have a store there for bait, ice, food, etc.

Google Maps these are spots I see folks fish from without boat. 2945'50.8"N 9353'52.2"W Pleasure Island Pier ( never really fished here so can not say but usually folks their you can ask fishing )
2946'52.7"N 9356'15.5"W South Levee Rd Road covers most of West side of Lake (Trout at right time of year)
2959'15.9"N 9350'44.5"W North End of Lake Old River Cove (Black Drum, Reds, Flounder, Can be trout right time of year shrimp live or dead best bet)
2946'29.8"N 9356'32.6"W Kieth Lake inlet outlet to ship channel ( Black Drum, Reds, Flounder, Trout ( shrimp )
Good Luck I fish from a boat and fish all these locations from boat with exception of Pleasure Island Pier.

Thanks for the spots.
Went yesterday, April 30th, but the wind was howling and the chocolate milk water didn't help. Saw people using live shrimp with no bites, and even the guys using dead shrimp couldn't give it away.
But, I did find a couple of spots to launch a boat and may try again later. Keith's Lake looks like it may be a good place to start.

Kieth and Johnson are very shallow but you can get around. Shell lake is flats boat territory. Their is an excellent boat launch off of 87 for Keith just before you get to Canal that connects lake to ship channel. Good places to fish by boat are Keith Lake to Canal. Look for the 8 to 4 foot depth transitions, flounder and black drum. Reds can be found by marsh grass all along the edges and trout over the lake chasing bait look for birds. Keep track of tides you can end up some place grounded. I will be on Keith Mother's day weekend or at Coffee Grounds on Sabine Lake have not decided yet. The following weekend I will do the one I did not pick.
I have Xpress H20Bay with F115. I have had to get out and push it off of shell in Shell lake so just be careful.
Good Luck
