About 20 years ago (I will try to find out the exact date) an important event happened to the lake. It's very important to fishing on the lake even today.

WHAT & WHY
Details will be revealed at the first meeting of the new Crappie club on April 23rd at Marshall's BBQ in Carrollton.
(trust me, it is important info)

If any of you other old timers remember let's keep the secret until the meeting.

The only thing that big I can recall as in 1990 or 1991. Will be in Midland tomorrow, so wont be able to confirm my suspension of what I believe you are speaking of. Dang.

Isn't Lake Lewisville where the remains of Jimmy Hoffa are buried? At least that's what Geraldo Rivera says. bolt

My guess is that they raised the lake level when they built Ray Roberts.

Ernest shared that the Lake Level was raised 7.5'. This put the willow and other trees that have since died about 8' off the current shoreline leaving the stumps/rootballs. He also shared how the soil erodes exposing the clay on points which makes for a great hangout spot for crawdads. Also, ledges that are now below the waters surface from the past shoreline. If you notice today how the water has created a ledge at the current shoreline. That is still there but about 8' offshore today. This makes for a great place to catch that staging female as the male preps things.

Fantastic meeting. Good to see new faces and old ones as well.

Us old farts knew the secret but had not applied it to our fish finding or techniques. Just goes to show that my common sense is not always common! Thanks Ernest for a super program! More secrets to come!
