We've fished RC since 1994 and full time as Fishing Guides since 2000. This is the toughest April I can remember in those 25 years. It may break loose tomorrow and be the typical easy limits on Whites and good Spring Hybrid bite, but as of this AM, it's still fishing tough. The 309 Flats, Pelican Island and South Shoreline are normally "lights out" by this time, but we've caught almost nothing on the South Shoreline and very few on the Flats. Yesterday, I had three Adults and three small Kiddos (See Pics) and we had around 60 Keepers and about that many throwbacks. Today, we had five Whites before we changed to Catfish to get our Fish Fry material. The "only consistent" thing happening is the "inconsistency" from day to day. Lots of small fish on the Main Lake. The live bait guys are catching a few Hybrids and some Whites but the artificial lure bite is tough. Not much bait on the shorelines and not many birds working. Water temp is in the mid 60's, clarity is good and spillway gates are open. Hang in there and maybe the next few days the fish will show! [Linked Image]

The same on Cedar Creek Lake except most of the lake is still milky - not clear. The only fish I can find so far are in the Clear Creek arm and some on shallow spots near the dam. Very few legal hybrids to date this year. Also, like RC and my recent trip to Tawakoni, we are catching as many or more dink white bass as we are keepers.

Heavy spring rain/flow = late main lake return for big whites and hybrids.

Good news is that we're catching enough to get by on now and will look like heros in a few more days!!!
