I found a mega crappie hole at lake Travis. Having trouble with bite and wanted to ask for any tips for water that has 20ft visibility. Lure color ect, I have tried everything but can only pluck one or two before they go into lock down mode.

Use a 4lb fluorocarbon leader on some 4lb mono, maybe even 2lb if its that clear. In those situations ditch lures and freeline a minnow. In those situation, youll notice a much improve catch rate if you net your own minnows in the lake, boat ramps are a good place to do this.

Transparent colored baits and chartreuse. In my experience, smaller baits work better. Pitch from a distance and let the bait fall to them. If using braid, use a leader (it doesn't matter until it matters!).
[Linked Image] The bait in this crappies mouth is a monkey business by Thermocline Lures. Notice how clear the bait is. That is what you are looking for.

8lbs braid with a 4lbs flou leader sounds like a plan. I have been looking for translucent small plastic all year. Fished for white bass at reimers and that la all I basically used. It's been hard to find a selection.

Hit Shane up with MCM Tackle on here. These are my three favorite colors when the water gets very clear. The smoke with turquoise head has been my best producer in clear water.

Berkeley Vanish, its the best clear water line I have ever used in the Gin clear waters of Canada... where you can see fish in 35+ fow.

As far as lure colors, Firecracker comes to mind (clear with red, blue, silver fleck) and is a Go To color. Monkey Milk is also good. I would stay with translucent type bodies, with lots of flake. Hope this information helps.

I've dealt with this at Possum Kingdom where the water clarity can reach 30 ft. For me 6 lb test Seagar fluorocarbon line and live minnows are best. If you want a jig the best by far I have found has been the white Fuzzy Bug

This jig is made of a material that mimics the iridescent chartreuse flash you get from a shad scale. At PK I can sight fish crappie under docks due to the clear water and have watched them reject just about every plastic or hand tied jig imaginable. They take this jig violently and don't release it quick as it looks like a little shad. Tipped with a minnow it works even better.

John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.
