I’ve never been on Belton and my son and I are thinking about fishing a tournament there next month. Looking for any info on safely running the lake, areas to avoid, hazards, etc. thanks.

TTZ Saturday was pretty tough. Only took 11 pounds to get a check with 200 teams. We struggled, but a few guys caught em. Only 1 over 8, then three 6's for big fish. I "was told" they were catching in 13 to 16 feet on plastics and deep diving cranks. We fished dirt to 30 feet and only had 6 or 7 bites between us. Saw lots of smallies weighed in we only caught largemouth. Good luck!

Thank you, is the lake pretty safe to run? We’d like to catch some small mouth in Texas. I’m from Tennessee and we try to go back and fish in the summer for smallmouth.

Very wide open to run although if you're pretty close to shore you might bump into a boulder 👍

Easy lake to run, wide open unless you up into that one branch of the lake (forgot the name.) It's the northwest end. Beautiful lake! Leave the braid at home and bring the mono.

very easy to run. It's a deep highland lake with almost no brush, unless you get up in a creek.
