In my opinion I think the 144 is better for a Tx. rig than it is for a C. rig. I like a longer rod for the C. rig.

Im a Falcon guy but fished Power Tackle for years. And Judy and Tim make a great rod as well! If you go PT, I always liked the 104 for 1/2 oz. and 104.5 for 1 oz. Both are great rods as well.

7'6"(ish) Heavy.... 3/4 oz weight 99.9% of the time

Only rod longer I own than my c rig is my 8 foot flippn rod that only comes out in certain situations
