So i’ve fished every weekend for the passed 5 weeks. 4 times were at Phantom Hill and last weekend was at Possum Kingdom. I was bank fishing each time. Idk what im doing wrong or maybe I just dont know how to locate them. I’ve used cut bait, punch bait, worms & live bait. 6 lines in the water at all times. I tried multiple spots. Any ideas, thoughts or comments?

Bank Fishing means you either have to attract them, or they must be naturally coming by the bank you are fishing from.
Also, you might try my Catfish Calendar (look for the thread- Lynn's Catfish Calendar 2019) which is for Yellows & Blues, as well as Gator Gars. It keys on the main roam-feed days. I use a simple 4 "sigs" to signify which has the strongest pull for that given day, YC = YelowCat, BC = BlueCat, BFT = Buffet (a variety of mixed fish), and ZIP (well you get the picture, meaning not do great). I also have a side item called PYC days, which is my Personal YellowCat days, according to a pattern that is very close to 7 off, on 2, 7 off, 2 on, 7 off, 3 on, and repeat, for the Yellows according to my discovery in 1981 & 1982. The KEY defines the 4 sigs as well as give some tips to assist.

Get some 20% protein range cubes (they sink) and cast a few handfuls out before you fish a spot. You can also get a five gallon bucket and place about 1/2 a bucket of milo, and just enough water to cover the grain, and then set it out in the sun for about a week with the lid off. After the neighbors call the cops on you, cover the bucket with the lid and take it with you when you go fishing again and throw out a couple of coffee cans full into the area you want to fish. Every time you go chum the area and get the fish used to feeding there, and I'll bet your luck changes, and you might have to fight off other people fishing there after they discover the fish.

Thanks Lynn, i’ll familiarize myself with the calendar. No I will never give up fishing lol.
One the range cubes/sour grain. Should I bait the spot hour or hours before fishing it? Should i bait it every day im fishing? Will that work for blue and yellow as well or is that only for channel? Since I cant get pure milo easily, would it work the same if i just soured a bag of chicken scratch with beer?

Just throw a coffee can full or two just before you start to fish, and if you can chum ahead of time a day or two before you intend to fish, you can throw several cans full. You don't want to put too much grain out in the water the day you decide to fish, as the fish will fill up on the grain and won't hit your bait if you over do it. One or two scoops of grain is enough. Chumming is just a way to draw the fish into the area so you can present a bait to them, but there still has to be fish in the area to begin with. It will draw mostly channels and blues, but any grain will draw in smaller fish as well, which is what the yellow cat prefers. If you still don't get a bite within an hour or so after chumming, you may have to try another spot until you do, and you can always come back to the spot later to see if any have been drawn in to the soured grain. Any kind of grain, and chicken scratch is fine.

If you are stuck fishing from shore, I don't think you can do any better than fishing lake Kirby. That lake is full of catfish and the average fish seems to be bigger than the average fish I catch at Phantom anyways.

Thanks Jimbo. I’ll be trying tomorrow.
@RespectTheFish I forgot to mention, I did try Kirby 2 weeks ago. I fished with 5 lines for 8 hours. I had Danny Kings punch bait on 2 of them, cut perch on 1, live goldfish on 1 and nightcrawler. On the last hour of the day I caught a big carp on the nightcrawler. I hope its just bad luck because if i’m doing something wrong I would never notice. If i found a boat to borrow, where would be a good place on phantom to look for eatin size #’s?

When I lived out there 10 years ago I always had luck from the bank on the north end by the 4x4 trails. Fishing all of the bait you mentioned above. It was better when the wind was blowing towards the bank.
A five spot for a shot and a beer? And you wonder how we wound up here.

Bank=10fow + patience. Last time I was out (weeks ago, 80 degree day, good wind blowing in) I sat on a spot 4 hours, started packing it up, then lo and behold along comes a 27 lber. Had to go after that, so they may have just been coming in or that may have been a lone wolf. "Never know until you go"

Almost forgot. Even though I did not research any on ChannelCats (CC), WhiteCats (WC), or MudCats (MC aka BullHeads), for me, it seems that I catch a lot of Channels on BFT days.

Sounds like you should do some scoutin'
Need to find areas where cats will frequent close to shore. When I shore fished mainly, I targeted windblown points, flats, etc.. close to deep water.
If I was casting and setting out a spread, I'd mostly have on big, fresh, cut shad, Buffalo, or Drum. I'd have one or two rods to play around for box fish if I felt there were any near by. But bank fishing, I'm after toads.
