Fouled spark plugs, clogged fuel lines, bad fuel, collapsed primer bulb, bad lift pump.........I'm sure I missed a possible cause or two but these are a good place to start.

It has new plugs and a new primer bulb. Could be bad fuel, is there anything else i could look at?

Ken, I just posted this to another thread that (until now) thought sounded just like an issue I was having before.
"This issue still haunts me. I had a 97 Johnson fast strike that performed very similarly. I went through everything from anti siphon valves to VST, power-pack...EVERYTHING (almost). Although mine would start and idle ok as soon as I tried to get on plane it acted starved for fuel. If I pushed in the key (choke) it would run perfectly fine. I had just rebuild the carbs 6 months prior and everything had been working fine that whole time. I ended up selling the boat with full disclosure and because I was just tired of trying to pinpoint it, the buyer took it to a shop and the carb bowls had already warped... the one thing I did not re-visit..."

I got rid of the VRO and went with the dual fuel pump kit that is available for these motors. I have a 1996 Johnson Fast strike 150. I did all the same [censored] anti siphon valve, all new fuel lines, pump bulb, carb bowls and kits, power pack and eye sensor , new fuel filter. It still did it. Very frustrating!!! Pre mix XD 50 in the gas and Replaced the VRO with the pump kit... runs Awesome!!! Starts when cold! I love it!
