I think I know a good place we tried 2-3 weeks ago, it was a nice hidden area, quiet. I thought for sure there would be fish back there, but no luck. I 'll try it again this weekend.

A former neighbor of mine was out yesterday and killed them. Go into pier 121 marina and fish the tires. Lots of big females on those tires right now he said. Look for the tires that are on small depth changes like small humps and stay on those areas. Make cast after cast on the tires until you can't cast anymore. They spawn on those tires and hold on he said the big ones are there. Good luck.

We hit the lake harder today, and saw many others doing the same. We stuck to the North end (pretty good north to south wind) of the South West branch and went DEEP into the creeks and fished the shallows and all along the creek edges. We fished top water cranks, shaky heads of multiple colors, even deep cranks through the middle of the creek. All we saw were turtles. This lake sucks, and not in a good way. On a positive note, my five year old son was out there for 10 hours and wanted to keep going. That was a good sign smile

Hit the lake this morning, after our guided trip was canceled last night due to weather. I thought for sure we'd catch something in the cover downwind of the points or in the creeks... nada. Is seeing turtles a good sign? Make me think they're eating all the bait fish, but I see them everywhere. Most of the birds were lazy and just floating on the surface. Tried some frozen shad on the shallow flats for catfish... just turtles biting. Really starting to dislike this lake for fishing.

I miss it terribly. It sucks if the water is high or if they are dumping out water though.

Long story short, after a long day of fishing and no bites again...watching others getting no bites... I watched these two guys roll under the bridge casting and catching left and right shocked . They asked if I had been having any luck and I said "not for the last year". I got a blank stare and asked what they are using. One was using an umbrella rig and the other a weighted bright green/yellow crank bait. Having one in my tackle, I threw it in and what do you know.... fish on. In short, I need to re-think our strategy and pay for the knowledge.

I don't know about paying for the knowledge. Wont be long and there will be a boat show going on out there for Sand bass. Just head to the twenty boats. Catch them almost every cast.
