So I was fishing Whites Branch in Flower Mound. I pull in a White bass and get stuck in the thumb by a dorsal fin and Whoaaa....my thumb and half my hand swelled up like a balloon. Ive been jabbed by a fin before and it was no big deal. First it swelled up, then it started hurting, and then it just went numb. Of course, being a rational adult, I kept fishing! Its now been seven hours and the swelling is still there. I must be getting delicate now that Im in my later forties!

If you didn't take him home to eat, he's probably posting on "FishBook" about how he leashed the fury on a human hand.....

Those white bass need to be handled with care. Very sharp gill plates as well. I get cuts all over my hands from them. Stripers are far worse than sandies.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

don't rule out a nasty water-borne infection, if it gets worse before it gets better see a doc.

Your right about the hardheads JJ4MEL. The hand is better now. Swelling is gone but the original puncture sites have only a mild discomfort to them. The doc put me on a course of antibiotics. She had never seen a person's hand swell after being stuck by a fin and had to go look it up. That didn't inspire any confidence but it's turned out to be no big deal in the end.
