How in the heck can I keep feral cats out of my flower beds? There are two that live in the storm drain in front of the house and they are always in and out of the flowerbeds setting off our motion cameras. Big ugly orange tom couldn’t care less about the entire jug of Cat Mace we put out. They get in there at night and I can hear the terrible noises they make. Any OT wisdom?

I bought a Big Bore blow dart gun but the wife said no... wife

Cats cant resist soft dirt. Sometimes they poop in it sometimes they just dig holes. They tried to get in my strawberry garden.Put down pieces of chicken wire,Cat Mats(prickly type),anything to stop them from trying to dig.

Adopt them and then practice the three S's with something quiet - like a pellet rifle which being not a firearm is not subject to the same requirements for a little something extra to quiet it down even more... It's a state jail felony now I think to kill feral cats. But there is some language about unless you are the owner of the animals. I guess they wouldn't be feral anymore at that point, especially if you follow my first suggestion.
No need to mention this to your darling bride and best handled discreetly when she is not home.
"Huh, now that you mention it honey, you are right. That's weird, I guess they must have found homes somewhere else." hmmm

He’s also mentioned something about purging them.

As much as I love cats, I also understand that truly feral ones can be a big problem.

I've been experimenting with mixing cayenne pepper with water in a spray bottle (put a little bit of liquid soap in so the pepper will dissolve). Spray it on the perimeter of the places you don't want them, or even on the planter bed soil.

*edit* I just re-read your original post. Nevermind what I said.
