Does anyone use this system? Is it secure or is there something else out there you like more? Too bad we have to go to this level due to thieves!

Most new boats have them. They work great but like anything can be broken into. Lock cut or thieves take your bow strap wrap around the bar and tighten till rips out of the fiberglass. But 99% time they do their job.

I added this to my 2005 Ranger; agree with Chance - they work as a deterrent...and for peace of mind, I suppose. I keep the lockbar on when traveling and if I stop for lunch or something I know it at least will keep someone from just walking away with my stuff. The lock also has an alarm that can be utilized...but as any of the alarms, they make noise and are ignored by most.

If someone wants your stuff they will find a way locker bar can be defeated and tear up your boat. Just saying. J D

Im amazed we keep perpetuating the modern myth of the winch strap breaking a loc r bar. Youd think the internet would be full of images of broken boats but in the 20 years or so Ive been around boats and fishing forums Ive never seen one. Even now I cant find a single image in a search.
Years ago I made a post asking for first person proof this had happened. I bumped the post annually for a while and not one time did anyone ever post a photo.
If youre worried about your winch strap, just cut a few feet off of it and reinstall it

Loc R Bar even asked for proof via pictures and was willing to pay a reward if anyone could show that proof. Also a local fiberglass shop tried to use the winch. Myth was busted.

If youre worried about your winch strap, just cut a few feet off of it and reinstall it Amen. I have heard the tale of the magical winch strap so many times yet no one can furnish proof that it ever happened. I think Lok r Bars are pretty darn effective unles someone takes the sawzall to your boat.

Short of taking a saw to the fiberglass or locker bar and lock, they work. I've had one for the last twenty years and no thieves have broke in yet. Knock on wood.
I hate photobucket.

Havent seen the lock bar defeated yet, but I have seen a winch cable on a front winch bumper hooked over the roof to a back bumper and crush the roof on a Jeep. Dudes ex wife and her new boyfriend got the bill. Haha.

But 99% time they do their job. I hate when someone post that %&*$ and has no clue what they are posting. As mentioned the winch strap is just a myth. Why would anyone do that when it would be easier to cut the lock. I will not have a boat with out the bar. Love it for quick pit stops on the road but nothing is fool proof but try to stick to facts and not rumors
