I met up with MassAction on Friday and we headed out to fish a couple of hill country rivers. First up was the Pedernales. The day started out in the mid 40s the fish were sluggish and trying warm up in the slow sunny pools. About 3 hours in and a mile down from were we started we found a river fed pond. It was full of bluegill, greenies, hybrids, a few bass and carp. I ended up catching about a dozen sunfish and hooked in to my first carp all on silliworms. We just about landed the 5-6 pound carp and my improved clinch knot slipped at the tippet ring. I knew when I tied my tippet on I didnt have enough twists in the knot. At about 2 we packed up and headed for lunch in Blanco then to the state park. In Blanco every cast with a silliworm got me a sunny or a small bass. They were right up against the bank about 3 feet down. Definitely a great day.

Thanks, I didn't see any Rios. I'm still waiting catch my first one. The carp fight was a lot of fun. It didn't fight much till it realized what was happening but then gave me a good couple of runs. It was the first good sized fish I have had on my 4wt fiberglass.

Thanks. I was using a red silliworm with brown dubbing with a few wraps of lead wire, a Llano bug with brown foam, black dubbing and yellow legs, and a cats whiskers with green marabou, gray chenille and crystal flash. The silliworm was really the most productive fly of the day. We wade fished both rivers.

Thanks for the information. Brown,Red,Black, and Yellow are the colors that have gotten good results for me. I use my 3 weight a lot on the sunfish and love it. I have already caught a couple of Rios off of the Blanco this year. The Rio bite is starting to pick up. I also love wade fishing and kayak fishing as well. woot
