My solution....I make a reservation and have the whole place to myself, or myself and a guest if I choose

www.privatewaterfishing.com

Each time I read one of these posts it reaffirms what a great value it is. No boat required as most lakes have a boat on site. You only need a trolling motor and battery at most sites

If you really want to get away, this is a great option

This happens because there are no consequences anymore......if they got a black eye everytime they'd stop doing it

What does our education system have to do with somone cuttting you off in a bass boat? Thats a ridiculous statement with no merit. Our teachers are underpaid and sometimes overwhelmed... Too many teachers go the extra mile daily with little recognition and minimal reward. Most do it because they care and they have a passion for our children. Your statement and your description of what you do when you feel someone wrongs you explains a lot... Heres one from school you may remember - two wrongs dont make a right.........

Have you ridden in a bass boat around kayaks? Because they sit so low, half of them you don't see until you are almost on top of them especially dependent on how they are positioned in regards to the sun.

I like the guy who is down the bank 200 yards so you pull up on the point and he comes up there and starts cussing and screaming how you cut him off. Some people just seem to go through life looking for a reason to be butthurt.

I heard a recap of an event in a recent tournament at Hubbard.

It involved two people, one on a bed fish in a marina and another person who apparently knew the large fish was up.

As the guy on the bed fish is working the fish the other pulls into a slip opposite and starts casting at the same fish.

To me an incredible display of awful sportsmanship, and absolutely no courtesy or etiquette.

So true. I dont remember any school shootings before they outlawed the paddle in schools.

Both happened early in the morning so I am thinking they got upset because someone beat them to their spot. I guess I will stick to night fishing. Havent had an issue then because everyone out there at night is very respectful or is it because there is no one else out there.

Thanks for the suggestions.

[quote=Greg W]Had the same thing in golf years ago. I'm putting on a green on a par 5 and a ball lands 3 feet from me on the green. Guys is 220 yds back so he's probably hitting a wood. Ball could have killed me. He would have been putting for an eagle. I took his ball off the green, teed it up, and hit it right back at him. Idiots abound in every sport.

1.) How fast (slow) were you playing - were you keeping up with the group in front of you - were there open holes ahead of you
2.) had you offered to let the group (or single behind you play thru
3,) he is probably hitting a "wood" --- how long ago did this happen --- BUT are you sure he hit a wood
4.) maybe it was a career shot for this person and you should have been clapping for him
5.) did you give him/her a chance to apologize --- before teeing the ball up and hitting it back at him/her

Balls landing on a green on a par 5 in 2 by accident are just part of golf --- MAYBE the person that hit the ball on the green wasn't the IDIOT
to assume that they meant to hit the ball at you might be the idiocy in this
a 220 yard shot by an amateur usually does not find the green --- 15% chance
just maybe they were being prudent and trying to keep the pace of play moving
NOW since you hit their ball back at them --- they have to go find it, go back to where they were and replay the shot, take time to come to and explain and apologize for hitting a career shot, spend 15 minutes trying to calm you down
AND NOW the pace of play and holding up the course really took a turn towards SLOW --- because now they will wait for you to clear the green and go all the way to the next tee before playing their shot to the green
THIS is the reason I don't golf on Saturday morning ---- I go fishing in that large cove with you and those other boats

Yep--- Idiots do abound in every sport.

I suppose you can teach common courtesy if you start when their young. Not much you can do with commonsense.

Just troll over and get in the boat with 'em. Tell 'em you thought they wanted to fish together 'cause it sure looks like it.

I have not. However I have not had much of a problem with bass boats in open water. Mainly because I try to stay out of open water as much as I can.

My issues is more like in coves, cuts, pockets etc. they will fish right around you and keep on going down the bank as if you were nothing but a stump. That is not all of them some will give you way as if you were another bass boat but half will act as if you are not there.

They are good compared to the pleasure boaters though. Basically if you have a row of speakers on a tower on a boat you are dick head and only care about yourself...to include not being concerned with anyones safety. Forget about etiquette they dont worry about basic safety of others.

I retired almost 2 years ago and I have not fished on a weekend since. Funny thing, I went to Welsh last December on a Wednesday. There were about 15 boats lined up to put it. I asked one of the guys in line what was up with all the boats on a weekday. Turns out it was a group/club of retired guys that fish their tournaments on Wednesday's. In hind sight, I should have joined this club.
