What kind of cattle chunks do you use for chum?

The cheaper ones. I also buy bird food (seed) at WM in the value package and keep some in a half-gallon size container in the boat that has been sitting in water to sour. Put a little of that in the water with cubes. Works well and easy to manage. Sometimes if they stop biting, I'll sprinkle some of the bird food in the water, and they'll get active again.

I grew up using soured corn or maze. I would always have gallon buckets mixed with beer and water sitting in the sun. Always had at least 3. When I used a bucket, I would just rotate them out. Every fish I caught (even bass) had corn in their belly.

Just last weekend I went to a friend's house which is on a sizable lake in Magnolia, just outside Hockley. We had a crawfish boil, and after we were done cramming down about ten pounds a head of crawfish, we took the remains and threw them out into the lake and used them as chum for channel cats. They didn't all sink, but the garlic and other flavorful scents obviously worked; caught fourteen fish in one hour!

Soured milo works like a charm. It will get their attention.
