Will adding a little too much to the tank harm the fuel system/motor on a Yamaha V-Max 175 HPDI

No, you can add up to 2 oz per gallon as a "Shock treatment"... and if you did that ratio or above you'd go broke first

At a Yamaha repair shop's direction, I'm adding twice as much as is called for on the bottle. The bottle says 1 oz per 10 gallons of gas, and after they did the Shock Treatment on mine, I continued to have some of the same problems, but to a much smaller degree. The motor would hesitate and back-off sometimes when I got on plane.
I've since been using 2 oz per 10 gallons of gas for probably 7 years or so and it's all been good. They told me that the thing to watch for is the spark plugs. The shock treatment can foul the spark plugs quicker, so you have to keep an eye on them. But mine have looked fine ever since going to the 2 oz per 10 gallon model, and I still just change them once a year.
