Normally, I would not post such incidents, but last Saturday I witnessed one of the most incredible physical feats by an animal in all my 50 years. Anyone had any dealings with a yellow lab in the squirrel creek/tiger creek area of Rayburn? After the second storm blew through around 12-1 o'clock on Saturday, out of nowhere, running down the bank like a bat outta hell comes about an 80-85 LB yellow lab and he is READY TO PLAY. Chasing every cast like it was a his last fetch ever!! I put the ultrex on 10 and it will pull the old 21 foot skeeter about 3.5 mph. But the yellow Lab can swim 3 MPH, so we cant really lose him. I don't want to drown the dog, just get away. So we crank up and move to the next bay over. About 5 minutes later, well he found us and is on top of us again in no time. We continue to fish, but every cast is an adventure with this dog chasing every cast in every direction. My buddy hooks up with a 2 lb schoolie and he got really excited, trying to take the fish off the spinnerbait, even when he finally got the fish in the boat, he was wanting to climb aboard!! We crossed back over the cove, hoping to lose him and actually "cut" a boat off who was fishing. I told the guy, "look we aint trying to cut you off, just trying to lose this dog". He was pretty amused already because he had been watching us. He was cool with it. About that time, the dog sees the other boat and yup, NOW its this other guys problem!! I kinda felt bad because it was not my intention to pawn the dog off on the poor guy, but that is what happened nonetheless. We watch the guy and he eventually. motors off and you got it......now he is coming back to us again, swimming across a bay that is at least 1/4 to half a mile wide. We crank up this time and leave him. The dog continues to chase us down the bank as we motor off. This went on for a good hour and a half and I am convinced would have lasted as long as we were there. The dog was a MACHINE!! He swam across numerous bays multiple times and never LOOKED TIRED!! I never saw the dog pant not one time. Frustrating as hell, but still very impressive to witness.

That's crazy! I hope the owner got him back under control, if not he may be to the 147 bridge by now huh?

Had two hounds swim out to our boat in veach, figured they were hunters dogs as they had GPS Collars. But dang things wanted in our boat. I finally gave up and pulled them in the boat, found a phone number on them but no one answered. Could not get away from them. Hung around for about 30 minutes and was fixing to leave when i saw someone pop out of the woods.

I had the same type thing happen, fish'n the flats in front of Miller, a few years ago.. A Jack Russell came swimming up, I'm the only boat in sight. Then it turns around and starts swim'n back to the island. About half hour later a boat w/ same dog comes by. He says : I turned it loose to run on the island.

Yea. Big ones. But most areas you can let your pets go and stuff. I know a couple creeks that have atleast one over 10' in them. Most main lake stuff you will be fine
