04/05/19 Fished shallow from 0800 - 1300. Caught 12 blues and 2 channels with 7 being over 20 inches. Fish are starting to come up in the shallows. Anchored @ 3 ft, Picked up fish on both shallow and deeper side of the boat. Water temp started out at 58 deg and warmed as the sun came out. The bite should pick up with another week of warm days.
A man should be able to saddle his own horse and kill his own snakes.

On Lake Livingston, catfish also bite as crazy in the shallow water on mornings. After 10-11 a.m., they move to 20-30 feet but bite very good. I usually keep only few cats for our family dinner and release others.

Thanks for the report! You are correct...the blues are shallow. My fav time of the year to catch em too. Nothing like a hard running 5lb fish on light tackle. The other morning we had 100 in a few hours up shallow. This pattern will continue until 2nd week of May.
