Yep, my grandparents had a house on Lake Livingston and fighter jets would come by and run simulated bombing runs on the bridge by Galloway's marina. We had lake house on the other end of the bridge from Galloway's and I always thought they were using that island for simulated strike runs. Was awesome to see! I was running through there once in an old Dyna Track, and one went overhead and I thought my motor was coming apart. I pulled the kill switch! They'd shake you to your core.

The Columbia Space Shuttle created a sonic boom when it broke up. Seems like we heard two booms where we live in Dallas.

Used to hear them all the time when I was a kid. Right here in north Texas.

We had a B-1 back in the late 90s that was over Lubbock and accidentally went over the speed of sound. The boom broke a bunch of windows. The USAF came in and paid for repairs. I guess they dont make windows like they used to

yep, we lived under one of the landing/take off lanes for tinker afb in okc, used to have them daily in the 60s. tinker was about 35 miles sse of our house.
think they stopped them due to broken windows and old wimmins gettin skeered, then again we were still doing duckncover for nukes at school too. I remember those duck and cover drills! Yep. Sure enough!

Evidently a lot of booms are natural. Below is a link about earthquake booms. The video was made when all of the earthquakes were common in OK. There's also booms caused by exploding meteors, and booms from ice expanding. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGZ5pnAbVJU

The timing of this question is impeccable. We had a sonic boom yesterday in Northeast Oklahoma, caused by a meteor. Was it early morning? I was out front of our office building facing north, probably about 7am, maybe earlier, and it was still gray enough in the sky that I saw a "shooting star." Used to hear sonic booms every now and then as a kid growing up in the 70's in Central Texas. Also could look towards Ft. Hood and see the flash of the artillery before the sound reached us. Nowadays it's the rumbling of SpaceX 20 miles to my left.

I remember, as a kid living in The Colony, the Concordes flying over the house on a regular basis. Not a sonic boom, but damn loud at the time.

There was an electric bomb site on the Toledo Bend dam back in the 80's. B-52's would run the bomb run at about 500' down the lake. I've been fishing a cove when one came over. Got real loud real fast. Just about had to change pants. They also did that over Kansas. We used to anchor on lake worth at the south end of the runway and watch the B52 s come in low and slow gear down. Those were some mighty planes. And they flew 24 7.
