I had some bird seed and thought I’d try making some chum. Covered it with water, added a beer, and stirred a few times.

It stinks to high heaven!

The mold won’t be an issue will it?

If I’m bank fishing how is a good way to sling it out there a good ways?

Best way is by kayak, although not everyone has one of those or is willing to lug it with 'em.

Bait spoons are a great way to do it from the bank Baiting Spoons BCT

You can attach these to your 6' or more (carp) net handle as everything has universal threading and sling bait quite a ways, although particles like corn and birdseed won't go nearly as far as larger, heavier baits.

Spods and spombs are another way to go about it from the bank, these are like little missiles you fill with bait, attach to your line and cast out. Carp fishing has the coolest gear!

Oh, and to answer your other question moldy bait isn't necessarily an issue. Sometimes the fish prefer spoiled bait over fresh!

Moldy chum is not a problem. The worse it smells, the better. If you can stand over the bucket and take a deep breath, it does not smell bad enough. Don't throw it out. Try it.
