I don’t like spinning rods/ reel. I fish Idaho rivers for smallies. Throw a lot of 1/16 oz lures on 8 pound test. Who makes a light action fast tip baitcaster rod

May even go custom I might buy a 2 piece so I can put it in my duffle bag on the plane. With a rod protector of course

Check out the TFO rods, the Traveler Rods are 2 piece rods with a carrying case.
They come with same lifetime warranty as their fly rods.
My son got one and has really been enjoying it.
I used it when we were on the Blue River catching trout in the current. Very nice.

You are looking for the Unicorn of fishing rods. A light action multi-piece bait caster.
You may decide to get one custom made.
A 7' 2-piece rod will be about 43.5" and won't fit in most luggage.
A 7' 3- piece rod will be about 30" and should work for airline travel.

Just curious as to what bait casting reel you are currently using to throw 1/16 oz lures?

My current cutoff is 3/8 oz. If the lure weighs 3/8 oz or more I usually use a bait caster. If it weighs less, I use a spinning rod. I just gave up on light weight bait casting. It was too frustrating for me.

Can’t comment on a 2 piece rod. One of the most versatile rods I’ve ever owned is the Falcon Bucco Swim Jig rod. You can look up the specs, but I throw a lot of small lures with this rod and a small Abu Garcia Black Max 1600 reel on 6-8 lb diameter braid. No backlash or line digging in the spool either. Funny thing is, it’s a 25 year old reel!

I use a Major Craft Volkey two piece rod for ultra light baitcasting. I bought it used so I'm not sure how available they are in the U.S. but this rod casts light baits really well.

I forgot to mention I was using a Falcon FC-2-159P rod. It is a 5’ 9” light action rod with a cork pistol grip. Falcon quit making years ago but you might be able to find one on eBay.
