I've got a personal branding question I'd like your two cents on as fishermen. I run a facebook page called, "High Percentage Fishing." I also run a website called Lunker Lore. (The names of each of my books). The facebook page has 10K or so followers and is growing rappidly. The website frankly doesn't get that much traffic. The book High Percentage Fishing outsells Lunker Lore 4 to 1. (even though I think the later is the better book). Anyway, I'd like to consolidate the Facebook page and website to one name. Either "High Percentage Fishing or Lunker Lore. Which name do you like better? Small thing here, but it's a big deal to me. I appreciate your insight!

I liked High Percentage Fishing better. It really helped me when learning how to fish mid and deep water.

Linked Lore sounds old fashioned and geared more towards recreational reading. High Percentage Fishing sounds more current and informative. I think thats why the bias is present.

High percentage fishing, sounds like , if you read this you will have virtually unknown information, that most people do not have. And you will be next to unbeatable on tournament day, putting you on the same level as , Clunn, Nixon, Martin, Van Dam etc,

And you will be next to unbeatable on tournament day, putting you on the same level as , Clunn, Nixon, Martin, Van Dam etc, Just to be clear, my books are not going to turn you into the next KVD. If that were true, I'd be out there doing it. What I hope they do is help most folks catch a few more fish and a few bigger fish by doing everything they can to stack the odds in their favor. Thanks for all the feedback guys. My head was in a different place, but this makes it pretty clear to me the direction I need to move.

Those that know how to fish might consider the 2 polar opposites. High percentage sounds more intriguing.

High Percentage fishing, for the sole reason that it already has what seems to be Good exposure on FB. You do not want to change the name and be potentially dinged in marketing because of it. Just add to your page and promote Lunker Lore as an addition to High percentage fishing. People who liked the latter will probably go ahead and buy the former.

One, this is a very valuable lesson for business owners, as we learn the difference between what we think the market will respond to and then see what the market actually responds to, so kudos. Second, be VERY careful using the TFF as your polling tool, especially the bass section, it is not necessarily the entire representation of the market. Finally, and just something to think about, it sounds to me like your personal preference is Lunker Lore and you seem more interested/passionate about that content. So do you really need to kill it and combine? What's wrong with building two separate platforms? Assuming you have the time to manage them this doesn't necessarily need to be all or nothing... Nothing wrong with one platform for profit and one for your passion... My two cents.

Josh,
I agree with your statements about the books, I enjoyed the second book more as I thought is was more story driven and therefore an easier read. Having said that I voted for HPF as a name because it sounds to me like if I read the content on this website, I will find something that will give me a better shot at being a successful fisherman. Hope that makes sense and is helpful.
See you on the lake and have a great day!

It's strange even staying that word as it's little more than a side project for me, but one I actually very much enjoy. As an ops guy, this whole marketing thing is new to me!
